The Schneider lab focuses on novel strategies for heart repair after injury or disease, using small molecules like isoxazole, which was identified in a stem-cell-based screen of the UT Southwestern chemical compound library, or large molecules like alginate, a seaweed-derived polysaccharide biopolymer that mediates a process of hydrogel heart repair known as "seaweed myocardial regeleration."
